چکیده

An underlying problem of current interface agent research is the failure to adequately address e ective and e cient knowledge representations and associated methodologies suitable for modeling the users' interactions with the system. These user models lack the representational complexity to manage the uncertainty and dynamics involved in predicting user intent and modeling user behavior. A utility theory-based approach is presented for e ective user intent prediction by incorporating the ability to explicitly model users' goals, the uncertainty in the users' intent in pursuing these goals, and the dynamics of users' behavior. We present an interface agent architecture, CIaA, that incorporates our approach and discuss the integration of CIaA with three disparate domains | a probabilistic expert system shell, a natural language input database query system, and a virtual space plane |that are being used as test beds for our interface agent research.

User-based Vehicle Route Guidance in Urban Networks Based on Intelligent Multi Agents Systems and the ANT-Q Algorithm

Guiding vehicles to their destination under dynamic traffic conditions is an important topic in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Nowadays, many complex systems can be controlled by using multi agent systems. Adaptation with the current condition is an important feature of the agents. In this research, formulation of dynamic guidance for vehicles has been investigated based...

A New Single-Display Intelligent Adaptive Interface for Controlling a Group of UAVs

The increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones in different civil and military operations has attracted attention of many researchers and science communities. One of the most notable challenges in this field is supervising and controlling a group or a team of UAVs by a single user. Thereupon, we proposed a new intelligent adaptive interface (IAI) to overcome to this challenge. ...

User Models, Intelligent Interface Agents and Expert Systems

The proliferation of user modeling as a means of accurately capturing the beliefs, desires, and intent of users is apparent. We present a dynamic, uncertainty-based user model knowledge representation for use in an intelligent interface agent called GESIA. GESIA’s numerical uncertainty management representation, which has its roots in Bayesian networks, not only dynamically captures and models ...

Intelligent Interface Learning with Uncertainty

This paper presents an intelligent user interface agent architecture based on Bayesian networks. Using a Bayesian network knowledge representation not only dynamically captures and models user behavior, but it also dynamically captures and models uncertainty in the interface’s reasoning process. Bayesian networks’ sound semantics and mathematical basis enhances it’s ability to make correct, int...

Analysis of User Interface Environment in Scientific Databases According to the Viewpoints of Postgraduate Students Applying Dervin's Sense-Making Theory

Abstract Background and purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the user interface environment of some databases (Science Direct, Springer, Clinical Key, and Wiley online library) from the perspective of users applying Dervin's sense-making theory. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 100 PhD students and research-based PhD students in Mazandar...
